MANSFIELD, OH- Garage sales are often a fun way to make a little bit of extra money in the summer, however, for one Mansfield family, their garage sale means much more than that.  The family is holding all-day garage sales throughout the month to help raise money for Avalyn Step, a happy 4-year old girl who is currently battling cancer.

Avayln was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer in January and has been bravely fighting ever since according to mom, Kayla Zody.

"She's got two bone marrow transplants, we just got finished with one and then she's got another one coming up in October," Zody said.

The family has been traveling back and forth the Columbus for treatment which has taken its toll both emotionally and financially for the family.  That is why they decided to get together a garage sale to help with some of the bills.

The family has also set up a GoFundMe page that as of Thursday afternoon has only raised $180 of their $5000 goal.

"She's honestly the sweetest little girl ever.  I don't even know how she handles everything because being three and being diagnosed with cancer, she's been extremely brave through everything.  I don't think I could be that brave if I were her," Zody said.

Avalyn is a smart young lady loves her whole family including her little brother who is nearly one year old.  She has been brave through the treatment process and has not given up her positive and energetic attitude according to Zody.

"Even on her sickest days we can still get her to smile and give us a little thumbs up," Zody said.

The garage sale is at 191 Saxton Road in Mansfield and will be open for business this weekend.  People can support the sale by stopping by to shop or donating items for the garage sale.

The family is also hosting a fundraiser for Avalyn on October 19 at 6pm in the Lucas Elementary School Cafeteria.  the event will feature food, raffles, a silent auction, and a 50/50 Drawing.
